Responsibilities:
1. Update the bibliographic information of film-related materials such as audio-visual materials (VCD/ DVD/ VHS etc.) and printed materials (books, handbills, film programmes, scripts etc.). Perform descriptive cataloguing and copy cataloguing and adapt online records according to guidelines in all subjects areas and languages
2. Perform quality checks on catalogued items, maintain metadata records and create holding records for all type of film-related materials according to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules Second Edition (AACR2) with Machine Readable Cataloguing (MARC) format to ensure accuracy and consistency
3. Create and update records in collection management systems, input object data, and assign accession numbers, subject headings and classification numbers according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme (DDC), LC subject Headings (LCSH) and local-defined classification system (DDC), LC subject Headings (LCSH) and local-defined classification system whenever applicable, and label barcoded identifiers on the materials
4. Perform preservation procedures to ensure the long-term integrity and protection of archival materials according to archival standards and procedures. Arrange photo-taking of materials for internal record and stock management purpose, and to arrange extra copies of collection items and reference. Perform physical processing and manual handling work, including but not limited to retrieving, checking, packing, labelling, sorting and shelving of all formats of materials, to and from normal and/or cold stores of HKFA according to museum and archival standards
Requirements:
1. Completed Secondary 3 or above
2. At least 3 years of experience in cataloguing film-related materials, using Archive/ Museum computerized collection management system
3. At least 3 years of experience in cataloguing at Second Level of description stipulated by Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules Second Edition (AACR2) and conform to Machine-Readable Cataloguing (MARC) format
4. At least 3 years of experience in handling and packing archival materials
5. Proficient in Traditional Chinese and English word processing
