Musical show director
We are seeking an artistic and highly organized Director to spearhead our flagship youth musical theatre production of Cinderella. Operating out of our dedicated studio space in Wong Chuk Hang (Aberdeen), you will deliver high-quality rehearsal management and theatrical training for students aged 10 and older. You will head a collaborative creative trio alongside our Musical Director and Choreographer to bring this timeless classic to life for our 2026–2027 performance season.
Production:Cinderella (Flagship Musical)
Location: Face Space, Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong
Student Age Group: 10+ years old
Rehearsal Schedule: Fridays (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM) and Saturdays (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Production Timeline: Rehearsals begin September 2026, leading to a full-scale theater staging in June 2027.
Core Responsibilities
Artistic Vision: Develop and execute a captivating, professional-standard staging concept for Cinderella.
Rehearsal Leadership: Direct weekly 2-hour training and rehearsal blocks, maximizing student engagement and pacing.
Performance Training: Nurture student skill sets in acting, blocking, character development, and stagecraft.
Creative Syncing: Partner symmetrically with our Musical Director and Choreographer to blend acting, song, and dance seamlessly.
Show Delivery: Manage technical run-throughs and structural staging to ensure an elite, high-quality final production.
Requirements
Experience: Proven track record directing youth musical theatre, showcases, or mainstage productions.
Pedagogy: Exceptional ability to engage, manage, and inspire young performers aged 10+ in a structured environment.
Communication: Strong collaborative skills to co-lead the creative pipeline with external departments.
Commitment: Full availability for the assigned Friday evening and Saturday morning shifts throughout the academic terms.
